LOS ANGELES -- Out of work? Interested in finding a more challenging job? Facebook, Google, Yahoo, TekSystems and others will have recruiters at the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE 8x) who are interested in your expertise in Linux, open source and free software.

SCALE 8x will offer an onsite job board where prospective employers and recruiters can list openings.

We heard you loud and clear, you want SCALE shirts and giveaways! The stylish SCALE 8x T-shirts are back and will be available for attendees with a full conference pass. Additionally, attendees staying at the Westin Los Angeles Airport will receive a special piece of SCALE memorabilia in their room. SCALE University still has seats available at SCALE 8x. Presented by the League of Professional Systems Administrators (LOPSA) in partnership with SCALE, these classes give a more intense and personal learning experience.

SCALE U will offer four half-day classes on Friday, Feb. 19, for system administrators of all skill and experience levels. The SCALE University Pass includes a full day of training (two classes of your choice) and full access to all three days of SCALE.

The schedule for the UpSCALE Talks has been released for Friday evening, Feb. 19. UpSCALE Talks, a home-grown version of “Ignite” talks unique to SCALE 8x, features speakers giving a five minute talk accompanied by 20 slides.

Some of the UpSCALE Talks scheduled for Friday evening are Christian Hergert’s “Hitchhiker’s Guide for the Linux Desktop;” Emma Jane Hogbin’s “Lessons from Life Coaching;” Michael Fair’s “A True ‘Free Software’ Business Model;” and Amber Graner’s “Volunteer Vertigo and High-Tech Hangovers;” among others.
