Guest Post: Dru Lavigne - BSD at SCALE 11x

While the 'L' in SCALE stands for Linux, we like to think that as an event and a community we are welcoming to all open-source platforms. We have never been Linux specific. With this in mind, we have invited Dru Lavigne to write a guest post about activities from the BSD community at SCALE 11x. -Ilan

Guest Post by: Dru Lavigne - Chair, BSD Certification Group

Members of the various BSD communities are pleased to announce that there will once again be a strong BSD presence at SCALE 11x.

Yet Another Linux Beginner's Class!

The Southern California Linux Expo is proud to present their second Linux Beginner training class!   It's an intensive, one-day training class to be held   Saturday, March 3rd, at the LAX Hilton, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Presented by volunteer trainers and presenters, students will come away with the ability to install and maintain a Linux operating system.

Attendees are expected to bring a computer suitable for installing Linux.   Laptops are encouraged but desktops are acceptable also.

Speaker Q-and-A: Mark Burgess

[Blogger's Note: SCALE 10X will be asking some of the speakers to weigh in on their presentations for the expo. This is the Q-and-A for Mark Burgess, who will give a talk on “3 Myths and 3 Challenges to Bring System Administration out of the Dark Ages” on Friday.]

Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

About that Training Class...

At SCALE, in spite of having a lot of content for developers and sysadmins, we've always had a soft spot in our collective hearts for the newbie.   Sadly, we've not been able to muster a lot of material oriented towards the raw beginner in Linux and Open Source.
