Interview: Caryl Bigenho

According to her SCALE bio, Caryl Bigenho was born 30 years too soon. She has made a smooth transition from a life with crystal sets and slide rules to living with computers. In 2007, Caryl was a "First Day Donor" in OLPC's "Give One Get One" program, and one of the first people to sign up to be a support volunteer. Caryl's SCALE 11X presentation, "OLPC at 6," will be given at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in room Los Angeles A.

Joseph Guarino is a Senior Consultant/Owner at Evolutionary IT, which provides IT solutions, Healthcare IT, Information Security and Marketing solutions. Bradley M. Kuhn is President and Executive Director of the Software Freedom Conservancy and on the Board of Directors of the Free Software Foundation. Chris Turra is a web operations engineer at Mozilla who is a passionate technologist and open source enthusiast. David Rodriguez likes to break web applications, so it's no surprise that his presentation will be on troubleshooting. David currently works as a Linux Systems Engineer, managing various types of Linux servers and will give his presentation, "Practical Application Troubleshooting using strace" on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 p.m. in room Century AB. The SCALE Team caught up with David to ask a few questions.

Nathan Betzen has been working with the XBMC community in one form or another since 2008, and currently he serves as the XBMC Community Manager  Nathan's presentation, "Growing an Online User Community: A Review of the XBMC Method," will be given on Friday, Feb. 22, at 11:30 a.m. in room Los Angeles C. Jonathan Thomas is the CEO of OpenShot Studios, LLC, and is the creator and lead developer of OpenShot Video Editor, one of the leading open-source video editors available on Linux. Jenn Greenaway is an early education specialist and open source enthusiast who studied child development at Moorpark College and The University of La Verne. She currently teaches infants and toddlers the skills that are most essential to success in the technology industry. Jérôme Petazzoni works for dotCloud, where he leads the Site Reliability Engineering team, which is responsible for the uptime of the dotCloud platform. The platform hosts tens of thousands of apps using Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Perl, Go, PHP, RabbitMQ, Redis, Solr, ElasticSearch, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and many more. Jérôme took the time to talk to the SCALE Team about his presentation, "Lightweight Virtualization with namespaces, cgroups, and unioning filesystems," which will be at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, in room Century CD.
