A US Department of Energy National Laboratory, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory uses its particle accelerators to operate the world's largest, most powerful X-ray laser. In addition, SLAC built the world's largest digital camera for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. Its images will soon be the largest-ever astronomy dataset.
