Schedule of talks for SCALE 8X has been finalized

Wed, 01/27/2010

The schedule of weekend talks for SCALE 8X has been finalized and are posted on the SCALE web site at http://www.socallinuxexpo.org. The topics are interesting and wide-ranging - check them out! The schedule for the Friday specialty sessions (OSSIE, WIOS and the Try-It Lab) will be posted in the next week.

Something new this year will be the "UpSCALE" talks Friday night - SCALE's version of the O'Reilly Media "Ignite" talks. Ignite is a style of presentation in which participants are given five minutes to speak on a subject, accompanied by 20 slides. Each slide is displayed for 15 seconds, and slides are automatically advanced. If you thrive on the pressure and excitement of a fast-paced presentation and have an exciting idea that you can share with the SCALE audience in 5 minutes or less then an UpSCALE talk may be perfect for you! For those interested in one of the few UpSCALE talking slots, please send an email with the subject of "UpSCALE Talk" with a brief description of your talk idea to gareth@socallinuxexpo.org. The deadline for submissions is February 1st, 2010 at midnight.

There's still some room in LOPSA's in-depth training classes to be held at SCALE. It's an great opportunity to get some training on Friday, and enjoy SCALE on the weekend.

SCALE recently interviewed Jesse Trucks of The League of Professional System Administrators. LOPSA will be conducting classes at SCALE on Friday. Read the interview with Jesse at /scale8x/blog/interview-lopsas-jesse-trucks

SCALE will be on the air! Gareth Greenaway, SCALE Community Chair, and Jason Riker, member of the SCALE Publicity team, will be on Digital Village, hosted by Ric Allan and Doran Barons this Saturday, January 30th. The show begins at 10 a.m. PST and consists of two 30-minute segments. Typically the interviews are in the second half of the show. If you're in the Los Angeles area, you can listen to Digital Village on KPFK, at 90.7 FM (or 98.7 FM in Santa Barbara). If you'd rather listen online, you can listen to KPFK streaming live at http://www.kpfk.org/

Exhibitors booths are going steadily; if your organization is considering exhibiting at SCALE, don't hesitate too much longer.
