The OpenBSD project produces a FREE, multi-platform 4.4BSD-based UNIX-like operating system. The project's efforts emphasize portability, standardization, correctness, proactive security and integrated cryptography. The project is widely known for the developers' insistence on open source code and quality documentation; uncompromising position on software licensing; and focus on security and code correctness.

OpenBSD supports binary emulation of most programs from SVR4 (Solaris), FreeBSD, Linux, BSD/OS, SunOS and HP-UX.
