Getting To Know Your Data

This talk demos a method for getting started working with a new dataset, finding what's important, filtering out the noise, and normalizing the fields and values prior to developing any analytical products. The demo uses Splunk and Splunk's open Security Datasets Project but the method can be leveraged with any data analysis platform or dataset.
