Professionally Joe has worked in Product Development for over 30 years starting out at Texas Instruments in the 1980s and now works for Schnieder Electric in the Industrial Automation R&D group creating control systems to automate Industrial facilities including Oil Refineries, Nuclear, and Coal Power Plants.

Joe began his Open Source contributions bringing mesh wireless networking to to the Amateur Radio community. In 2013, he established the first wireless hub site in Orange County, CA on Saddleback Mountain and extended to Pleasants Pk, now a major back bone site connecting several SoCal counties using Amateur Radio frequencies to build an off-grid 802.11 regional wireless mesh network . Joe has presented at numerous Amateur Radio organizations in California and currently contributes to https://github.com/aredn/aredn_ar71xx building firmware to convert WISP devices to Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN) Inc mesh nodes.
