Tim Elwell is the Vice President for Healthcare Initiatives for Misys Open Source Solutions, a new division at Misys plc. In this role, Tim is leading the company’s open source strategy and development efforts in support of healthcare products and services offerings. Misys announced their intention to enter the open source space in July 2007, and subsequently announced their intention to release the Healthcare Division’s Connect Code in a press release in October 2007.

Tim joined Misys from IBM Corporation, where he began his IBM career in 1997 at the renowned T. J. Watson Research Center and was responsible for business development activities for software and services as well as for all business development activities for the Israel Labs in Haifa. He also assumed business development roles in IBM’s Global Services Mergers and Acquisitions group and led a number of large equity and deal capture opportunities in the healthcare space before becoming National Sales Director for IBM’s Global Business Services for State and Local business.

Prior to IBM, Tim was the Deputy Director for Columbia University’s Center for Advanced Technology that promoted technology transfer activities for the departments of Medical Informatics and Computer Sciences. Previous operations roles included Vice President of Technical Operations and Operations Director for Raytel Medical and Medtronic, Inc., respectively. Tim started his career at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a Certified Cardiovascular Technologist.

Tim graduated from the City University of New York at Baruch College with an MBA in General Management and an undergraduate degree in Biology from Siena College.
