Ed Cashin - Coraid
Speaking Topic: Practical ATA over Ethernet

Ed Cashin has been using ATA over Ethernet since the first AoE targets became available. He is the maintainer of the aoe driver, an AoE initiator in the Linux kernel, and a collaborator on open source AoE projects like the vblade AoE software target.

Abstract

AoE allows us to leverage indexpensive hardware to achieve scalable storage. Before AoE accessing shared block storage was complex, expensive, inflexible, and/or difficult to configure. Ed will discuss the AoE network protocol. Its description is only eight pages long but provides enough of a structure to build flexible, simple, and scalable storage solutions from inexpensive hardware.
