The web has been through a lot of changes since Netscape released the first browser with JavaScript support nearly 20 years ago. Web applications are becoming more complex and and users expect richer experiences and native performance on a variety of devices – desktops, tablets, phones, and soon smartmatches will enter the mix.

Web Components is a set of new technologies soon to be standardized by the W3C and already supported in the latest developer versions of Chrome and Firefox. Together with this spec, Google and Mozilla are releasing new frameworks, dubbed Polymer and X-Tags, which make building powerful components for the web easy and fun.

This talk will explore this emerging standard with plenty of examples, and show how using a framework like Polymer can make developing web components as simple as writing "Hello World".

It's time to stop cooking div soup and to start using a better tool.
