SCALE 11X: Matthew Garrett to give keynote

Release date:
Saturday, September 29, 2012

The Southern California Linux Expo has chosen Matthew Garrett as the
first of two keynote speakers for SCALE 11X in February.

Garrett is a Linux kernel developer specializing in low-level
interactions between the kernel and firmware. He has represented Red
Hat on the UEFI and ACPI specification bodies.

Garrett's keynote is entitled “The Secure Boot Journey” and
details his work over the past year – technical, political and
diplomatic – in getting Linux to run on UEFI Secure Boot systems. He
will outline the scenario where Linux users could not only be assured
that they can run Linux out of the box in UEFI-based systems, but also
how Secure Boot can be used to enhance security.

The second keynote speaker will be chosen and announced soon.
