Jim Klein is currently the Chief Technology Officer for the Las Virgenes Unified School District. Through over two decades of IT experience, Mr. Klein has become widely renowned as an aggressive technology leader, particularly in the areas of open source. He has written a number of articles for industry magazines, and serves on a number of national and international committees and panels. Mr Klein has been recognized as a T.H.E. Journal Innovator, NetworkWorld All Star, and a National School Boards Association "20 to watch" educator, and has appeared on the covers of both T.H.E. Journal and EdTech Magazine.

Jim is also founder of the ubermix project, an Ubuntu-based distribution built specifically for education and deployed in hundreds of schools and on thousands of devices all over the globe. Built by educators with an eye towards student and teacher empowerment, ubermix takes the complexity out of managing and using Linux on student devices for learning.
