Why Open Hardware?

Audience:

The Open Compute Project Foundation is a 501c6 organization which was founded in 2011 by Facebook, Intel, Rackspace, Goldman Sachs and Andy Bechtolsheim. Its mission is to apply the benefits of open source software to hardware and rapidly increase the pace of innovation to hardware design and engineering. By releasing Open Compute Project technologies as open hardware, its goal is to develop servers and data centers following the model traditionally associated with open source software projects. In this talk AK Graner will go over the mission and vision of the Open Compute Project. She will show you the designs and specs that drive some of the leading web scale data centers architectures and more. Learn how the OCP Hardware Licenses complement the OSI software licenses and increase the pace of innovation in the data center ecosystems. Learn how to participate in the OCP Community and where the OCP gear available.
