Leslie Hawthorn to Keynote SCALE 12x

The SCALE team is pleased to announce that Leslie Hawthorn has been named as one of our keynote speakers for SCALE 12X, the 12th annual Southern California Linux Expo, in February.

 Leslie will speak on “Why Checking Your Privilege is Good for *You*”

 An internationally known community manager, speaker and author, Leslie Hawthorn has spent the past decade creating, cultivating and enabling open source communities. Her achievements include creating the world’s first initiative to involve pre-university students in open source software development, launching Google’s #2 Developer Blog, receiving an O’Reilly Open Source Award in 2010 and presenting a series of exciting talkson several open source topics. In August 2013, she joined Elasticsearch as Community Manager.

 The keynote will focus on understanding your own bias, becoming a useful ally and how to engage in meaningful conversations with everyone you meet.

 Registration for SCALE 12X, the first-of-the-year Linux expo in North America, is open and registrants can register online.

The venue, the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel, is offering SCALE 12X attendees an expo discount of $112 per night.
