Interview: Solomon Chang

 
Solomon Chang is a MySQL certified DBA and a former director of LAMPSIG. He works as a professional Database Administrator for Oracle Advanced Customer Support servicing Visa in Foster City, and is a co-author of the MySQL Cluster Certification Study Guide. His presentation, "RDBMS for puzzle solving," is at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 22, in room Century CD.
 
Q: Could you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?
 

Interview: Dave Stokes

Dave Stokes is a MySQL Community Manager for Oracle and previously was the Certification Manager for MySQL AB. He has worked at companies ranging alphabetically from the American Heart Association to Xerox, has three college degrees, enjoys riding his Honda Goldwing motorcycle, lives in North Texas, and started with UNIX in the Version 7 days. Dave is giving the presentation "Writing Better MySQL Queries for Beginners" on Friday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. in room Century CD. The SCALE Team caught up with Dave for a brief interview.

Interview: Caryl Bigenho

According to her SCALE bio, Caryl Bigenho was born 30 years too soon. She has made a smooth transition from a life with crystal sets and slide rules to living with computers. In 2007, Caryl was a "First Day Donor" in OLPC's "Give One Get One" program, and one of the first people to sign up to be a support volunteer. Caryl's SCALE 11X presentation, "OLPC at 6," will be given at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, in room Los Angeles A.

Interview: Joseph Guarino

Joseph Guarino is a Senior Consultant/Owner at Evolutionary IT, which provides IT solutions, Healthcare IT, Information Security and Marketing solutions. He took a few minutes to talk with the SCALE Team about his presentation, "Linux and Windows Inter-operability -- Making Linux and Windows play nice," which will be Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m., in room Century CD.

Interview: Bradley Kuhn

Bradley M. Kuhn is President and Executive Director of the Software Freedom Conservancy and on the Board of Directors of the Free Software Foundation. Chris Turra is a web operations engineer at Mozilla who is a passionate technologist and open source enthusiast. David Rodriguez likes to break web applications, so it's no surprise that his presentation will be on troubleshooting. David currently works as a Linux Systems Engineer, managing various types of Linux servers and will give his presentation, "Practical Application Troubleshooting using strace" on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 4:30 p.m. in room Century AB. Interview: Nathan Betzen

Nathan Betzen has been working with the XBMC community in one form or another since 2008, and currently he serves as the XBMC Community Manager  Nathan's presentation, "Growing an Online User Community: A Review of the XBMC Method," will be given on Friday, Feb. 22, at 11:30 a.m. in room Los Angeles C. The SCALE Team had a chance to ask Nathan about his presentation.

Interview: OpenShot's Jonathan Thomas

Jonathan Thomas is the CEO of OpenShot Studios, LLC, and is the creator and lead developer of OpenShot Video Editor, one of the leading open-source video editors available on Linux. Jonathan will be giving a presentation entitled "Introducing OpenShot Library: A Powerful New Video Editing Framework!" on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the LaJolla room.
