Joshua Gay is the IEEE Open Source Community Manager at the IEEE Standards Association. He has over 20 years of experience working with the free and open source software world, including roles as advocate, developer, licensing and compliance manager, communications director, and community manager. Joshua has a strong background in both nonprofit organizational management and textbook publishing. Before joining IEEE, he served as the campaigns manager and later as the licensing and compliance manager for the Free Software Foundation, and he was a technical-content manager for the open education textbook organization CK-12 Foundation. In the academic year 2013-2014 Joshua was an affiliate with the Berkman-Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard. He holds a BS in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
