Lessons learned by running LogDevice in prod

LogDevice was built from scratch at Facebook and at some point we started running in prod. During this process some things didn't go as expected and I call those things learnings. From the many many things I learned I'm taking the ones that were more far away from what I would have expected.

This talk will not give any insight on LogDevice technolgy nor how to run it, is about general topics and practices that can be used, I believe, for anything production engineering.

The learnings include:

- Ops Oncall

- Communication

- Customer onboarding

- Open Source

- Physical data placement

- Source of truth

- Hack it until your fix it
