Building an application market for the Linux platform

Topic:

The Linux application market has always been fragmented. An application developer is forced to make many choices when choosing to develop a Linux application - what toolkit to use? Which distribution and by extension which package manager? Which license? After that the developer is forced to use toolchains that at first impression require greater time and work to adapt to. This talk identifies these challenges and works through some of the solutions that we as a community are coming together to solve. Building an application eco-system means better tools and greater influence in the open source world that has grown substantially in the past three years with a large influx of new developers. These developers believe in open source, but do not develop using an open source platform. We're going to change that by providing a same or even better experience to our closed source counterparts. This problem can only be solved as a singular goal by all projects involved. This talk is about how this is happening.
