Salt Stack Introduction and Overview

Audience:
Topic:

SaltStack is powerful, high-speed systems management software used for event-driven cloud infrastructure orchestration. It can be used to automate a lot of data center things, but is not very useful without a foundational understanding of how it can be used to automate some of the most common tasks.

Attendees will come away from this training with an understanding of the SaltStack core architecture and core modules, when to write custom execution modules, grains, and runners; how best to use pillar, states, the Salt Reactor, Salt Orchestrate, and more. Trainees will learn how to install SaltStack from scratch in both master / minion and masterless architectures, run commands, set up and manage systems, and orchestrate deployments.

Live product demonstrations will be delivered in both the traditional SaltStack command line interface as well as the new SaltStack Enterprise graphical interface. The training will also share best practices for the most efficient, secure and economical SaltStack implementation possible.

Attendees should have work experience as a systems administrator, DevOps engineer, or in some function of IT operations, and have some familiarity with systems management tools and practices.
