Distributed Version Control & Mercurial

Audience:
Topic:

Lan became the Mercurial administrator for her team despite having little experience with  distributed version control systems (DVCS) and no experience with Mercurial.   Users of DVCS tools like Git and Mercurial only need to know a small set of commands and concepts to do their work.  As the adminstrator of the tool, Lan had to have a fundamental understanding of distributed version control systems, common workflows, and the tool's capabiities and limitations.

This presentation is the culmination of intense research into distributed version control systems, Mercurial, and Git.  Lan will provide an indepth look at distributed version control systems, how they work under the hood, and some best practices.  It will include case studies from Lan's experience helping out team members with repository and Mercurial issues.   It will conclude with an annotated list of online resources that can be used to further one's understanding of DVCS, Mercurial, and Git.
