Jérôme Petazzoni works for dotCloud, where he leads the Site Reliability Engineering team. The team is responsible for the uptime of the dotCloud platform, which hosts tens of thousands of apps using Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Perl, Go, PHP, RabbitMQ, Redis, Solr, ElasticSearch, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and many more.
To deploy, supervise, and manage the cluster without losing their sanity, the team uses Puppet, Nagios, RRD, and many home-made tools. Most of those tools have been open-sourced, including dotCloud "secret weapon", the ZeroRPC framework.
Jérôme also maintains the custom kernels used at dotCloud.
Before joining dotCloud, he also co-founded Enix, french provider for cloud and virtualization services since 2005. He holds a Master's Degree in Fundamental and Applied Computer Science from the University of Marne-la-Vallée in Paris, France.
When he's not hacking on his computer, he can be seen cooking, or heard playing the piano, the bass, or the theremin.
