Building an observability collection service with OpenTelemetry

Audience:
Topic:

OpenTelemetry provides the foundation for open source observability in the cloud-native ecosystem. This popular open source project provides a Collector agent, APIs, and SDKs to instrument, generate, collect, and export telemetry data to analyze cloud-native and on-premise infrastructure and application software performance and behavior.

This talk will discuss requirements and design considerations for building a scalable and highly-available observability collection service leveraging OpenTelemetry components. Design considerations including scalability, reliability, performance as well as telemetry metrics, traces and logs collection, configuration and deployment options will be covered. Join in to learn about the latest features in OpenTelemetry including observability data support for eBPF, real user monitoring (RUM) events.
